Top Misconceptions about Paddle Boarding

Top Paddle Boarding Myths Debunked

So many people miss out on paddle boarding simply because they heard something about the water sports that discouraged from ever pursuing it. It is easy to reach conclusions on things when you see them in magazines, and hear about incidents from people who heard them from someone else. Here are some of the most common myths about paddle boarding.

Paddle Boarding is Difficult, If I Didn’t Learn it Growing up Its too Late for Me
Stand up paddle boarding may look difficult, but the great thing about it is that it really is not. There are tons of people who start paddle boarding in their 30s and even 40s. This is because you can start paddle boarding within minutes of getting on the board for the very first time. Now if you really want a positive first experience, it would help if you seek out paddle board rentals, and book a tour with a reputable service like Kayaks and Boards.

All that Gear Must be Pretty Pricey
It is true that paddle boarding gear along with the right safety equipment can be pricey, but it does not have to be if you rent paddle boards, instead of buying a board. If you want to take it on as a fitness regimen, then renting will definitely serve you better.
The Oversized Long board and the stand up Paddle Board are the Same
They don’t even come close! A fine tuned paddle board is one that takes design from surfriding watercrafts. This lets you lean on paddles and push into areas and angles that no other board can.

The Paddle Must be Way Taller than You to Move the Board in Water
The general rule is that you get a paddle board that extends no more than 6 inches above you. But a paddle comes suited to the type of board you are renting, the angle of the blade and the thickness of the board all play a part in this. If you get a paddle that is too tall, you will only end up with your shoulders stressing out from the exertion. On top of that you are wasting the advantage that you could have had with a shorter and a more efficient paddle.

The Best Places to Paddle Board are Conventional Coastal Areas
Most of the beaches and coastlines are jam packed with swimmers and surfers, and people assume this is where it is more fun to paddle board. The entire point of paddle boarding is that you ditch the areas you have been going to every summer and explore unchartered territories. You can paddle board through offshore reefs, and the mushiest points where other water crafts cannot venture.
